Artist’s Statement
For most of my career I lived in the Twin Cities of Minnesota working as an advertising art director and graphic designer. Photography was a personal pursuit. Through it, I was able to indulged my lifelong love of hills, trees, rocks and water— especially Lake Superior.
Fast forward 40+ years and I retired. The reason I lived in the cities no longer existed, and I knew it was time to leave. By chance we made a road trip to Seattle. I had never really been out west and was overwhelmed by the landscape. Returning home via Wyoming proved to be a life changing experience. We returned over the next few years, and finally moved to Casper at the beginning of 2022.
I was now free to pursue my passion, though it was now hills, trees, rocks, mountains and— horizons. As I began exploring the backroads of Wyoming I realized that there is so much more to Wyoming than just the Tetons and Yellowstone. And I knew that I wanted to focus on those quiet, often overlooked locations. Thus was born the concept for what was to become “Of Roads Less Traveled”.
