CitiWerks & Harmonyx Audio Present: J Shogren NOISEfolk with Nicholas Cantine
Join us at CitiWerks in Casper, Wyoming for an intimate Sunday afternoon concert featuring J Shogren NOISEfolk with special guest Nicholas Cantine.
J Shogren NOISEfolk creates noisy American folk songs, exploring the roots music landscape by blending traditional acoustic elements with modern electronics, contrast, and unexpected texture. Led by J Shogren on vocals, guitar, and mandolin, the group brings together guitars, violin, bass, and an adventurous approach to American folk music.
Opening the afternoon will be Nicholas Cantine, a Casper-based songwriter, producer, and audio engineer behind Harmonyx Audio and the alternative folk project Pleasure People. Cantine’s writing is rooted in dark, honest, and emotionally resonant storytelling, with songs shaped by unusual guitar tunings, self-reflection, recovery, relationships, and haunting folk-inspired arrangements.

FEATURING
NOISEfolk is a fresh twist on Americana roots music - acoustic instruments meet curious textures, with fiddle, upright bass, and guitar backed by subtle electronics and noise. It's traditional music played through a dissonant transmitter.
Fronted by J Shogren, a Scandinavian-American singer-songwriter and Nobel Prize economist (IPCC), this is folk with a doctorate in storytelling, a PhD in weird, and a minor in not taking itself too seriously. You might say: "Townes Van Zandt meets Louie Anderson in a Laramie laundromat."
Nicholas Cantine is a Casper-based songwriter, recording artist, and producer known as the creative force behind the alternative folk project Pleasure People. Influenced by dark Americana, cinematic arrangements, and emotionally driven storytelling, Cantine’s music blends unusual instrumentation, haunting textures, and introspective lyricism into a unique and moody style that draws listeners inward. In addition to his work as a performer, Cantine operates Harmonyx Audio, where he works as a producer and engineer for local, regional, and national acts.
